Around 10.9 million Filipino workers were laid off from their jobs at the onset of lockdown, according to a labor report. Trade Unionists, until now, are persistently calling for P10,000 social amelioration for all, and P100 emergency wage subsidy and other socio-economic programs to aid Filipino workers.
More than a year since the first lockdown was observed in the country, Nagueños get on with their daily lives while still grappling with the pandemic. Safety protocols are still being observed in public places. However, the economic decline was gravely felt by many with price escalation, while many jobs were lost as well and incomes dwindling.
